Please excuse me but I don't know if is the correct section for a question.
Hello everyone, please someone can tell me the origins and where it was used this symbol?I saw this symbol in a letter date Algery 1861 by a military franceise in the corps of chassurs d'afrique that he was hospitalized in a hospital(I think military) in Algerie.
This insigne is drawn with a pencil (I attached the picture) and attached some similar insigne of hospital and service sante'that i found.
Thank you very much for your kindness.
What is it this insigne?
Re: What is it this insigne?
This symbol dates back to the invasion of the Roman legions in North Africa. It is the symbol of a deity worshiped by the Greeks and then by the Romans. Asklepios is a healer god in mythology.
