Singapore – F-15SG Pilot Training

WASHINGTON, May 1, 2012 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress April 30 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Singapore of a possible sale of follow-on support and services for Singapore’s Continental United States (CONUS) detachment PEACE CARVIN V (F-15SG) based at Mountain Home Air Force Base (AFB) for a five-year period. The estimated cost is $435 million.

The Government of Singapore has requested a possible sale of follow-on support and services for Singapore’s Continental United States (CONUS) detachment PEACE CARVIN V (F-15SG) based at Mountain Home Air Force Base (AFB) for a five-year period. MDE includes: 40 GBU-10 PAVEWAY II Laser Guided Bomb Units, 40 MXU-651/B Air Foil Groups, 84 GBU-12 PAVEWAY II Laser Guided Bomb Units, 84 MXU-650/Bs Air Foil Groups, 124 MAU-169L/Bs Guidance Control Units, and 3 P5 Combat Training System Pods. Also included: commercial vehicles, publications and technical documentation, tactics manuals and academic instruction, clothing and individual equipment, execution and support of CONUS exercise deployments, airlift and aerial refueling, support equipment, spare and repair parts, repair and return, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and
contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support. The estimated cost is $435 million.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been, and continues to be, an important force for economic progress in Southeast Asia.

Singapore needs this training and munitions to support its F-15 aircraft. This program will enable Singapore to develop mission-ready and experienced pilots to support its current and future F-15 aircraft inventory. The well-established pilot proficiency training program at Mountain Home Air Force Base will support professional interaction and enhance operational interoperability with U.S. forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

There is no prime contractor involved in this proposed sale. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government and contractor representatives to Singapore.

There will be no adverse impact on the U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

Pour un pays aussi minuscule, ils alignent du matériel de pointe , et ils compensent intelligemment la quantité par la qualité .C'est pourquoi l’armée du Singapour est considérée comme une des rares armées dites "smart".

Singapore to start negotiations for 4 Scorpene SSKs with France's DCNS

Thursday, 26 July 2012 08:43

According to rumors (infosdefense.com), the Republic of Singapore Navy is about to start negotiations with France for the possible purchase of 4 Scorpene class SSKs. The deal could include transfer of technologies.

Contacted by Navy Recognition however, a DCNS source refused to comment on the rumors.

Scorpene class SSK of the Chilean Navy
About Scorpene class SSKs:
Already chosen by the Chilean, Royal Malaysian, Indian and Brazilian Navies Scorpene-Family submarines represent the state-of-the-art in submarine design and construction and benefits from the latest technologies developed for nuclear-powered classes operated by the French Navy, particularly as regards acoustic discretion and combat system performance. Scorpene can be fitted with an optional MESMA AIP section.
- The MESMA (Autonomous Submarine Energy Module) is an electrical energy production module designed specifically for conventional submarines. As well as supplying electricity to the vessel and to the propulsion system, it can also be used to recharge the batteries without the need to surface. Together with a MESMA section, a Scorpene will be able to carry out extended missions with an over 3 weeks submerged endurance.

Alenia Aermacchi rolls out first M-346 for Singapore
Alenia Aermacchi rolled out the first M-346 advanced jet trainer destined for the Republic of Singapore Air Force at a ceremony on 7 August, at its plant in Venegono Superiore, near Varese, Italy.

Due to be handed over later this year, it will be the first of a 12-aircraft order dating from September 2010.

Alenia is working in an industrial team headed by ST Aerospace, which will supply the aircraft - along with a ground-based training system - for Singapore's Advanced Jet Trainer programme.
Image
The M-346 will replace Douglas A/TA-4SU Skyhawks at the Cazaux air base in France, where the RSAF conducts its Fighter Wings course.

Alenia Aermacchi and ST Aeropsace will provide the necessary logistical support for the trainers under a 20-year contract signed in July 2011. Boeing is to supply full-mission simulators for the programme.

"The successful roll-out of the first M-346 illustrates the firm commitment by ST Aerospace and Alenia Aermacchi, in support of the RSAF's next-generation training needs," says Chang Cheow Teck, president of ST Aerospace.
Image
Alenia received type certification from Italy's Direzione Nazionale degli Armamenti (DNA) organisation for the aircraft in July. This was followed by the signing of an agreement between the DNA and RSAF to allow reciprocal recognition of airworthiness rules and type certification.
The first cadre of two RSAF pilots are already being trained at the Italian air force's advanced training school at Lecce air base, using the service's first T-346A advanced trainers, together with its extensive ground-based training system.

Israel recently became the second international customer for the M-346, with an order for 30 of the type.
