La Thaïlande première utilisatrice du UH-60 en Asie du sud-est
Sikorsky today announced that the Royal Thai Army has signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) to acquire two UH-60M BLACK HAWK helicopters through the United States Government’s Foreign Military Sales channel. Upon delivery, Thailand will become the first member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to fly the very latest version of the BLACK HAWK helicopter operated by the U.S. Army. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The UH-60M BLACK HAWK helicopter incorporates a variety of enhancements including a digital glass cockpit, advanced flight control system, a state-of-the-art communications suite, full night vision device capability for night operations, and other improvements that reduce pilot workload, increase lift, and provide better protection and enhanced survivability. Sikorsky expects to deliver its 500th UH-60M helicopter to the U.S. Army this summer.

“The BLACK HAWK helicopter is the standard by which all military utility helicopters are judged, and the UH-60M represents the very latest, most comprehensively equipped model that we have ever developed and delivered to the United States government. More nations are increasingly discovering its multi-mission value, outstanding performance record, and durability even in the harshest and most hostile environments,” said Samir Mehta, President of Sikorsky Military Systems. In May 2011, Sweden became the first European country to acquire UH-60M aircraft.

In August 2011, Thailand also became the first country outside the United States to take delivery of Sikorsky’s latest version of the naval BLACK HAWK utility helicopter, the MH-60S helicopter. The two new “Sierra” aircraft acquired by the Royal Thai Navy are designed for utility missions, such as logistics and troop transport. In addition, the standard searchlight and rescue hoist will enable aircrew to perform search and rescue missions.

More than 3,000 BLACK HAWK helicopters of all variants are in use today, operating in 30 countries. Designed to stringent U.S. military standards, the BLACK HAWK helicopter has become the leader in multi-mission type aircraft. Among the mission configurations it serves are troop transport, medical evacuation, electronic warfare, attack, assault support and special operations. BLACK HAWK helicopters of all variants flown by the U.S. Army in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of war have accumulated more than 1.3 million fleet flight hours without a single Class A material failure. The combined operational sortie rate in both theaters stands at 85 percent. The U.S. Army’s total BLACK HAWK helicopter fleet exceeds 2,000 aircraft.

Thailand – UH-60M BLACK HAWK Helicopter

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2012 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress today of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Thailand for four UH-60M BLACK HAWK Helicopters and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of $235 million.

The Government of Thailand (GoT) has requested a possible sale of four UH-60M BLACK HAWK Helicopters, 10 T700-GE-701D Engines (8 installed and 2 spares), warranty, support equipment, spare and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, publications and technical data, U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance, and other related logistics support. The estimated cost is $235 million.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in South-East Asia.

The Government of Thailand intends to use the UH-60s to modernize its armed forces. This proposed sale will contribute to the GoT objective to update its military capabilities and improve interoperability between Thailand and the U.S., and among other allies.

The proposed sale of these helicopters and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractors will be Sikorsky Aircraft Company in Stratford, Connecticut; and General Electric
Aircraft Company (GEAC) in Lynn, Massachusetts. There are no known offset agreements proposed in
connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will require U.S. Government representatives to travel to Thailand for a period of 5 weeks for equipment deprocessing/fielding, system checkout and new equipment training and a Contractor Furnished Service Representative (CFSR) for a period of one year.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

La Thaïlande vient d'acheter 4 EC-725 Caracal à Eurocopter

Image

Ray-Ting 2000 / Thunderbolt-2000 AMLRS, Taiwan

Image
Ray-Ting 2000 / Thunderbolt-2000 AMLRS

The Ray-Ting 2000 (RT2000), or Thunderbolt-2000, is a new Artillery Multiple Launch Rocket System (AMLRS) manufactured by Taiwan-based Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST) for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Army. The wheeled MLRS replaces the existing Kung Feng VI 117mm rocket system.

The Ray-Ting 2000 artillery launch rocket system was displayed for the first time during the Han Kuang Exercise in 1997. Series production of the system was delayed until 2000 due to structural problems in the launcher unit. The problems were resolved and testing was successfully completed by July 2003.

The Thunderbolt-2000 AMLRS is intended to launch missiles against enemy amphibious assault landing craft and other warships. The system also enhances the firepower of traditional tube artillery.
Ray-Ting 2000 orders and deliveries
"The Thunderbolt-2000 AMLRS is intended to launch missiles against enemy amphibious assault landing craft and other warships."

The Taiwanese Army has a total requirement of about 150 Ray-Ting 2000 systems. It received its first Ray-Ting 2000 AMLRS from CSIST in September 2012.

Over 50 RT2000 systems are currently planned for production by the Republic of China Ministry of National Defence (MND) at a cost of $483m. All the units are deployed under the 21st Artillery Command and each artillery group is equipped with three Ray-Ting 200 batteries comprising 18 RT2000 launchers.

MLRS Multiple Launch Rocket System

The combat-proven multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) is a rocket artillery system manufactured by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

The Ray-Ting 2000 launcher, along with a self-reload crane, can be mounted to the rear side of a high mobility 8x8 cargo truck. The launcher can be equipped with pods of unguided surface-to-surface rockets. The design of sealed rocket pod ensures rapid reloading, and lowers the maintenance and storage requirements.

The fire-control panel is housed in the fully enclosed forward control cab which allows the crew to aim and launch rockets from within the cabin. The unit is equipped with electronic unit, position and direction determining system, controller box, servo motors, amplifier, and communications processor.

The fully automatic fire control system, and elevation and azimuth driven systems aboard the truck allow the operator to automatically aim and elevate launch tubes and compute firing data.
Ray-Ting 2000 rocket details

The Ray-Ting 2000 uses three types of rockets; the Mk15, Mk30 and Mk45. The system can carry 60 rounds of Mk15 117mm rockets in three pods. The Mk15 rocket is also used by the Kung Feng VI multiple rocket launch system. The MK15 carries 6,400 6.4mm size steel balls to a maximum range of 15km.

The RT2000 uses 27 rounds of Mk30 180mm rockets in three pods, with each pod housing nine rounds. The Mk30 can carry either M77 dual purpose improved conventional munitions (DPICM) bomblets or 8mm steel balls. The Mk30 has a maximum range of 30km.

The Mk45 rocket is larger than the Mk30 and carries 12 rounds in two pods. The 227mm rocket can carry either M77 bomblets or 8mm steel balls to a range of up to 45km. The Mk30 and Mk45 rockets can be equipped with high explosive or cluster warheads.

The Mk45 can destroy all small landing craft and damage large sized ships.

All three rocket-types in the Ray-Ting 2000 are powered by solid propellant motors. They are equipped with four fins for in-flight stabilisation. Each rocket can be equipped with a front-mounted warhead of high-explosive or sub-munition.

The rockets are fired from pods mounted in the launcher and the empty pods are replaced with a fresh pod using the crane on the vehicle. The rockets have a circular error probability of less than 1%.
The Mk45 can destroy all small landing craft and damage large sized ships."
Launch vehicle

The RT2000 is based on an Oshkosh M977 8x8 truck chassis. The vehicle is powered by a Detroit Diesel 8V92TA engine coupled to an automatic transmission. The engine, developing a power output of 450HP, provides a maximum speed of 100km/h and a range of 450km, and the wheeled vehicle improves the manoeuvrability of the system.

13:26 GMT, September 26, 2012 Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Royal Thai Navy for the upgrading of the Combat Systems on the frigates H.T.M.S. Naresuan and H.T.M.S Taksin. The order amounts to Baht 2520 million (approximately SEK 550 million; USD 83.1 million; EUR 64.7 million).

The contract is a continuation of an on-going program contracted to Saab by the Royal Thai Navy in 2011. The contract adds additional sights and communications equipment to complete the combat suite on the two frigates.

“Saab will further strengthen its position as supplier to the Royal Thai Navy through the upgrade of the Combat System on the frigates H.T.M.S. Naresuan and H.T.M.S Taksin. Saab is now on the Navy's three major vessels and with data links to the Royal Thai Air Force's Gripen and Erieye, capabilities and resources can be used more efficiently,” says Gunilla Fransson, Head of Saab’s Business Area Security and Defence Solutions.

Saab is the main contractor to the Royal Thai Navy, and the order, apart from containing supply of Saab’s systems, also covers delivery of third party systems as well as responsibility for integration of all existing and new systems.

The contract will run between 2012 and 2015.

Thailand- UH-72A Lakota Helicopters

WASHINGTON, June 20, 2013 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress June 7 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Thailand of 6 UH-72A Lakota Helicopters and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of $77 million.

The Government of Thailand has requested a possible sale of 6 UH-72A Lakota Helicopters, spare and repair parts, support equipment, communication equipment, publications and technical documentation, Aviation Mission Planning Station, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $77 million.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States, by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in Southeast Asia.

This proposed sale will contribute to Thailand's goal to upgrade and modernize its military forces with a new light utility helicopter capable of meeting requirements for rotary-wing transportation, while further enhancing greater interoperability between Thailand the U.S., and among other allies. Thailand will have no difficulty absorbing these helicopters into its armed forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor will be EADS North America, in Herndon, Virginia. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will require U.S. Government or contractor representatives to travel to Thailand for a period of five weeks for equipment de-processing/fielding, system checkout and new equipment training and a Contractor Furnished Service Representative (CFSR) for a period of one year.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.
