Le missilier européen a signé un contrat d'environ 200 millions d'euros au Brésil portant sur l'armement de l'avion de combat Gripen NG. MBDA va fournir à l'armée de l'air brésilienne une centaine de missile air-air Meteor.
Selon nos informations, MBDA a signé un contrat important au Brésil portant sur l'armement de l'avion de combat Gripen NG, qui devrait être mis en service dans l'armée de l'air brésilienne en 2021/2022. Le missilier européen va fournir dans le cadre d'un premier lot à l'armée de l'air, très contrainte sur le plan budgétaire, une centaine de missile air-air Meteor. Le contrat est évalué autour de 200 millions d'euros, la part française s'élevant autour de 15%. En octobre 2018, Saab avait effectué pour la première fois un vol d'essai avec un avion Gripen E équipé du missile air-air Meteor, qui arme également l'Eurofighter et le Rafale.

Le Brésil sera, avec la Suède, le premier à utiliser la nouvelle génération de l'avion de combat de SAAB. Le groupe suédois avait annoncé en 2014 avoir finalisé la vente de 36 avions Gripen NG au Brésil pour 4,28 milliards d'euros et engager une coopération industrielle, avec notamment un transfert de compétence pendant dix ans. Le contrat porte sur 28 avions une place et huit avions deux places.

MBDA en bonne forme
Dix-huit ans après sa création, MBDA est en pleine croissance. En 2018 le missilier européen a obtenu 4 milliards d'euros de commandes, ce qui porte son carnet de commandes à des niveaux record (17,4 milliards d'euros). Des succès qui ont permis à MBDA d'enregistrer 2,5 milliards d'euros de commandes (contre 1,6 milliard en 2017) provenant de ses clients nationaux (France, Royaume Uni, Italie et Allemagne) et 1,5 milliard d'euros à l'export (contre 2,6 milliards en 2017).

Le chiffre d'affaires du missilier continue d'augmenter, atteignant 3,2 milliards d'euros. Soit cinq ans d'activité. MBDA a également affiché de bons résultats financiers avec une marge opérationnelle de près de 10%. https://www.latribune.fr/entreprises-fi ... 19815.html

Saab to Offer Canada 88 Gripen E fighters

Expecting the final Request For Proposal (RFP) from the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) by mid-2019, Saab is all set to offer 88 Canadian-made Gripen E fighters to the country, reports Flight Global.

The RCAF had issued the draft RFP back in October last year to acquire new fighter planes to replace the existing Boeing CF-18A/B Hornet fleet for which Gripen E/F had also been shortlisted.

Patrick Palmer, Senior Vice-President, Saab Canada, confirms that Saab is hoping to follow the same process that helped it seal the deal in Brazil. “We think this is the model that makes sense for Canada. We’re going down that path but we’re also looking at how the RFP is written and what the customer values. Certainly if that (technology transfer) is what the customer values for Canada, then it is something that we can easily do,” he says.

Besides technology transfer, Saab can also offer the integration of U.S. and other non-Saab equipment with Gripen E so that it is interoperable with American forces. “Moving forward with the Gripen E, we see no problem whatsoever to integrate that fighter into a NORAD context,” says Per Alriksson of Saab Aeronautics.

According to another news report in The National Post, the Department of National Defence in Canada expects the first delivery of jets for the Canadian program in the mid-2020s with the full capability available in the early 2030s.
According to Saab, Gripen is built for Canadian weather conditions. "Gripen is designed specifically for operations in the Arctic, giving it a leg up on other planes. Sweden has air force bases in what you call the far North. We operate there daily. Gripen has Arctic DNA built into it,” Per Alriksson says.

Saab offers GlobalEye system to Finland with Gripen aircraft proposal

June 17 (UPI) -- Saab has offered Gripen aircraft and GlobalEye early warning planes in response to Finland's request for fighter plane procurement, the Swedish aerospace company said.

Finland seeks to increase its fighter plane capability and is expected to make a procurement decision by 2021, the company said Friday in a press release.

Supported by the Swedish government, the package offered by Saab includes 52 Gripen E and Gripen F planes, as well as two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft.

"Our offer to Finland is a comprehensive solution for air power and air defense, responding to the requirements of the HX program," Anders Carp, senior vice president and head of Saab's surveillance division, said in the release. "GlobalEye is the world's most advanced AEW&C solution and combined with Gripen E/F fighter aircraft, it will provide a substantial contribution to the joint operational capability of the Finnish Defense Forces."

GlobalEye is a new multi-role airborne surveillance system capable of offering air, maritime and ground surveillance on a single platform.

Based on the Bombardier Global 6000 ultra-long range jet aircraft and unveiled in 2016, it accommodates up to seven command-and-control workstations, with displays presenting target data obtained by the onboard sensors or received via the data links.

The aircraft allows operators to find, track and monitor threats, as well as manage all onboard systems. GlobalEye's main sensor is an extended-range S-band scanned array multi-mode radar. The radar is designed to collect target data across a vast surface area.

The Gripen's most recent variant was developed in 2018.

The aircraft can carry air-to-air IRIS-T, Meteor, Sidewinder and A-Darter missiles, and be fitted with air-to-surface weapons. The Swedish and Swiss air forces have ordered Gripen aircraft, and Saab's proposal for Finland includes 52 single-seat Gripen E and 12 two-seat Gripen F variants.

Supported by Sweden, Saab has today submitted its proposal for the Finnish HX fighter procurement to the Finnish defence procurement agency, the Logistics Command of the Finnish Defence Forces. The proposal comprises 64 Gripen aircraft, both single-seat Gripen E and dual-seat Gripen F, and is the formal response to the customer’s Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued in April 2018.

Dans un article récemment publié dans The Aviation Geek Club, un ancien ingénieur de vol de l'armée de l'air suédoise explique comment Gripen a le dessus dans presque tous les scénarios de combats de aérien, ce qui en fait un combattant apprécié de ses forces aériennes.

Stefan Englund se souvient du premier Gripen (Gripen A) à avoir participé à Red Flag 2006 au sein de l'équipe rouge. Avec un système AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) et un contrôle au sol limités, le Gripen a quand même exceptionnellement bien fonctionné sans subir de pertes ni être détecté. Il met également en lumière un autre exemple lors d'un exercice de combat avec la Royal Norwegian Air Force où les chasseurs Gripen, bien que seulement au nombre de 3, ont eu un combat à 3 rounds réussi contre 5 chasseurs F-16.

Stefan donne également l'exemple du rôle de Gripen dans la mission libyenne. «Gripen fait partie des chasseurs les plus sous-estimés qui volent aujourd'hui. Pendant la campagne libyenne, elle est entrée comme ressource tactique, mais a très vite été transformée en ressource stratégique », dit-il.

La série Gripen-E, qui a fait plusieurs progrès depuis, en termes de connaissance de la situation et de son système de guerre électronique (EW) sans précédent, a été développée pour contrer les menaces avancées et futures. Cela fait de Gripen E la solution idéale pour les pays confrontés à des menaces plus complexes ou disposant de territoires plus étendus à sécuriser.
