Re: Super Lynx Mk-130

1- Cdt de bord (pilote in command)
A BON ENTENDEUR......SALUT :hadarat:

Great job!

FLASH Compact set for Super Lynx 300
Published: 18 Feb 2013
Thales has announced the selection of its FLASH Compact lightweight dipping sonar by AgustaWestland as part of an export contract for Super Lynx 300 shipborne helicopters.
The end customer for the system has not been disclosed. However, it is believed that FLASH Compact will equip six new Super Lynx 300 aircraft on order for the Algerian Naval Forces for operations from two new MEKO A-200 frigates.
Thales has to date sold variants of the standard FLASH active dipping sonar system to France (NH90), Norway (NH90), the UAE (Cougar), the UK (Merlin) and the USA (for the MH-60R as part of AN/ALQ-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar). Additionally, a modified high-frequency variant known as FLASH-S is being supplied to Sweden (NH90).
However, the FLASH dipping sonar in its standard configuration is too large and heavy for either the Super Lynx or the follow-on AW159 Wildcat.
As a result, Thales has developed the lighter (267kg) FLASH Compact, which retains the existing ‘wet end’ and processing package – returning the same in-water performance – but replaces the existing hydraulic reeling system with a lightweight electrically driven winch with 500m of cable.
Thales says that “combined with a sonobuoy processing system, the FLASH Compact sonar brings to smaller helicopters a full and very effective sonar suite”.
AgustaWestland has never officially acknowledged the latest Algerian Super Lynx order, which follows on from the earlier delivery of four Super Lynx Mk 130 aircraft to the Algerian Naval Forces for search and rescue duties.
However, parent Finmeccanica in August 2012 acknowledged the receipt of a contract to supply six Super Lynx 300 helicopters “to a key customer in the southern Mediterranean area”.
It is understood that FLASH Compact is also baselined for the AW159 variant to be supplied by AgustaWestland to the Republic of Korea Navy. South Korea’s Defence Acquisition and Programme Administration announced in January 2013 that it is to buy eight AW159s to meet its Maritime Operational Helicopter requirement.
