DSCA a écrit :Morocco – Additional F-16 Ammunition

WASHINGTON, September 12, 2019 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Morocco of additional F-16 ammunition for an estimated cost of $209 million.  The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on September 11, 2019.

The Government of Morocco has requested a possible sale of five thousand eight hundred and ten (5,810) MK82-1 Bombs (Tritonal); three hundred (300) MK84-4 Bombs (Tritonal); one hundred and five (105) Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) KMU-572F/B Tail Kits; one hundred eighty (180) MXU-651B/B Air Foil Groups (AFG), GBU-10; four thousand one hundred twenty five (4,125) MXU-650C/B AFGs, GBU-12; four thousand three hundred and five (4,305) MAU-169L/B Computer Control Groups (CCG), GBU-10,-12,-16; and five thousand one hundred seventy-eight (5,178) FMU-152 Fuzes.  Also included are flares M-206, Flares MJU-7A/B, Impulse Cartridges BBU-36, Impulse Cartridges BBU-35/B, Bomb Sensor DSU-33C/B, chaff, bomb components, spares, repair parts, support equipment, publications and technical documentation, engineering technical and support services, and other related elements of logistics, transportation, and program support.  The estimated cost is $209 million.

This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a major Non-NATO ally that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in Africa.

The proposed sale will improve Morocco’s capability to meet current and future threats of terror from violent extremist organizations prevalent throughout the region.  Additionally, the additional munitions provided by this sale will improve interoperability with the United States and other regional allies and enhance Morocco’s ability to undertake coalition operations, as it has done in the past in flying sorties against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.  Morocco will have no difficulty absorbing these additional munitions and services into its armed forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractors will be Raytheon USA, Orbital ATK (USA), General Dynamics, Kilgore Cheming Groupe (USA), Cheming Groupe (USA), and Kaman Precision Products (USA).  The purchaser typically requests offsets, however there are no known offset agreements at this time in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will not require U.S. Government or contractor representatives to be assigned to Morocco.

TOW ITAS Specification

Extension to 10 km of anti-tank missile range thank to the laser rangefinder
IMPROVED TARGET ACQUISITION SYSTEM (ITAS)
Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS)
Print Friendly, PDF & Email
DESCRIPTION
The Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) provides long-range sensor and anti-armor/precision assault fire capabilities, enabling the Soldier to shape the battlefield by detecting and engaging targets at long range with Tube-Launched, Optically Tracked, Wireless-Guided (TOW) Missiles; or directing the employment of other weapon systems to destroy those targets. ITAS is a multipurpose weapon system, used as a reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition sensor.

ITAS’s second-generation forward-looking infrared sensors double the long-range surveillance of its predecessor, the M220 TOW system. ITAS offers improved hit probability with aided target tracking, improved missile flight software algorithms and an elevation brake to minimize launch transients. The system includes an integrated Far-Target Location (FTL) capability (day-and-night sight with laser rangefinder) via a position attitude determination subsystem, a fire-control subsystem, a lithium-ion battery power source and a modified traversing unit. Soldiers can also detect and engage long-range targets with TOW Missiles or, using the ITAS FTL capability, direct other fires to destroy them. The FTL capability consists of a position attitude determination subsystem that provides the gunner with their own Global Positioning System (GPS) location and a 10-digit grid location to their target through the use of differential GPS. The ITAS can fire all versions of the TOW Family of Missiles.

The ITAS Image Enhancement Modification Kit reduces operator workload by optimizing the image presented to the gunner through electronic processing. Electronic focus, image stabilization and other processing techniques ensure that the image presented is optimized for the environment without manual manipulation of the various adjustment settings. ITAS operates from the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, the dismount tripod platform and Stryker anti-tank guided missile vehicles. ITAS is the Infantry’s precision weapon of choice in combat engagements.

BENEFIT TO THE SOLDIER
ITAS provides long-range anti-armor/precision assault fire capabilities to the Army’s Infantry and Stryker Brigade Combat Teams as well as to the Marine Corps. ITAS is a major product upgrade that greatly reduces the number of components, minimizing logistics support and equipment requirements. Built-in diagnostics and improved interfaces enhance target engagement performance.

The barracks of tanks and artillery are almost all in the East, Erachidia, Guercif, Ouarzazate, Missour ... and there are new armored barracks "GEB" and artillery which were created in recent years in the East region to host the M1 and artillery pieces including Chinese MLRS and M109, in addition to ASA Artillery Sol-Air barracks for Chinese anti-aircraft systems.
In Errachidia they build a new FRA Air base to host the new Vipers 70 , in Ben Guerir, Errachidia and Meknes in the future when the Mirage will be out of service. So yeah the East region is very armored  dont know why.

In Nador and Hoceima there are Infantry Bases of the Royal Army and Naval Base of Navy, including l'école des Plongeurs and Naval Commando in Hoceima, plus Ksar Sghir naval base front of Gibraltar, because the naval base in Casablanca will be replace by Ksar Sghir, there will be no more naval base in Casablanca, Ksar Sghir will be the largest base of the Navy with the FREMM and others ships there.
