Pakistan tests nuclear capable Hatf IX missile

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Tuesday it had successfully test fired a short-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile.

The Hatf IX has a range of only 60 kilometres (37 miles) and can carry conventional warheads, the military said.

"This quick response system addresses the need to deter evolving threats, specially at shorter ranges," it added in a statement.

It was the third time Pakistan has test fired a ballistic missile since arch-rival India last month launched its new long-range Agni V, capable of hitting targets anywhere in China.

India and Pakistan -- which have fought three wars since independence from Britain in 1947 -- have routinely carried out missile tests since both demonstrated nuclear weapons capability in 1998.

Defence analysts say India's strategic priorities are moving away from Pakistan to focus more on China, while Pakistan is still concerned about its eastern neighbour.

Islamabad teste un missile a capacité nucléaire

Le Pakistan a effectué jeudi un test réussi du missile de croisière Ra'ad (Hatf-8), capable de porter une charge nucléaire, annonce la chaîne de télévision pakistanaise GEO-TV.
Selon les médias, le président pakistanais Asif Ali Zardari et son premier ministre Youssouf Raza Gilani ont adressé leurs félicitations aux constructeurs du missile.
Le missile de croisière furtif air-sol Ra'ad d'une portée de 350 km est depuis plusieurs années testé de pair avec le missile de croisière sol-sol Babur par les militaires pakistanais. Les deux missiles ont beaucoup en commun et devraient bientôt équiper l'armée du Pakistan.

Le Pakistan annonce avoir testé avec succès un missile à capacité nucléaire

SLAMABAD- L’armée pakistanaise a annoncé mardi avoir à nouveau testé avec succès un missile à courte portée à capacité nucléaire, le cinquième essai de ce genre en six semaines.

Ce missile de croisière, un Hatf VII d’une portée de 700 km, avait déjà été testé plusieurs fois par le Pakistan ces dernières années. Le Hatf VII est un engin "doté d’une excellente maniabilité, volant à basse altitude et dont la trajectoire épouse le relief du terrain", a assuré dans un communiqué l’armée. Le missile peut emporter une ogive nucléaire précise le texte.

Il s’agissait du cinquième test pakistanais depuis le 25 avril, cinq jours après que l’Inde eut triomphalement annoncé son premier tir d’essai d’un missile de longue portée à capacité nucléaire, l’Agni V, un succès technologique incontestable selon les experts.

Un Saab 2000 Erieye AEW&C partiellement endommagé lors de l'attaque qu'a subi la base de Minhas

A nozzle of an Airborne Warning and Control System (Awacs) aircraft was damaged as a rocket-propelled grenade hit it when terrorists stormed Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Airbase Minhas in Kamra on Thursday. However, the aircraft is repairable, Minister for Defence Syed Naveed Qamar said.

“The engineers and technicians of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex have examined the partially damaged aircraft, and according to the initial report, this most advanced Awacs aircraft of the Saab-2000 category can be repaired,” said the defence minister while talking to The News at an Iftar-dinner hosted by the Iranian ambassador here on Thursday. “A test flight of the aircraft will be conducted after repairing it,” he added.

According to sources, three to four dozen aircraft were present at the airbase when the terrorists launched the attack. Most of these aircraft were brought to Kamra for overhauling and repair.

Syed Naveed Qamar, who was chief guest at the Iftar dinner, said that the Pakistan-Iran friendship should be promoted for the mutual interest of the two countries. He said all avenues would be explored to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the defence sector and all resources would be utilised for this purpose.

He said the Pak-Iran economic cooperation would also be promoted and the Pak-Iran gas pipeline would be completed without any further delay.

Le PNS Dehshat second navire d'attaque rapide de la marine pakistanaise, lancé


PNS Dehshat is the second ship of its kind and was constructed at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.

The Pakistan Navy’s second fast-attack craft named PNS Dehshat, was launched on Thursday during a ceremony at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW).
PNS Dehshat is the second ship of its kind and was constructed at KS&EW in collaboration with China State Shipbuilding, Offshore International Company and Xingang Shipyard under the Transfer of Technology arrangement.
The first ship PNS Azmat was inducted in the PN Fleet in June 2012.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Asif Sandila, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, lauded the defence cooperation between China and Pakistan and said that the construction of the missile craft at Karachi Shipyard was another example of “unparalleled” Sino-Pak relations.
Admiral Sandila added that addition of these crafts to the PN Fleet with further strengthen the offensive capability of the Pakistan Navy.
