Tiens ça me surprend cette histoire de rachat de BMP-1 supplémentaires.
Bien que l'armée irakienne n'ai pas combattu il faut faire le point - ce qui est difficile je suis d'accord- sur ce qui n'est plus opérationnel à cause de mauvaises conditions de stockages, je ne suis pas sure non plus que les américains lors de leurs premières avancées n'ai pas détruit une bonne partie du matériel pour qu'ils ne soit pas utilisés contre eux.

Pour le mauvais stockage je pense aux avions comme les MiG-25 stockés sous le sable et je n'ai plus trouvé d'infos sur une éventuelle remise en service.
Je pense que les missiles balistiques genres Al Hussein, Abbas ..etc ont étés démontés durant l'embargo qui a suivi la première guerre du golf.

Au passage une question car j'ai un trou de mémoire, comment s'appelle le Sa-2 convertit en missile sol-sol ?

faut dire aussi que les équipages des blindés irakiens ont étaient formé sur des bmp-1 notamment , apres la guerre en 2003 la nouvelle armée irakienne avait besoin de déployer des troupes en urgence pour faire face aux révoltes dans le pays et n'avait pas le temps de formé leurs troupes sur des équipement US d'ou l'utilisation des blindé russe , idém pour le T-72 ..
les Abrams ne sont arrivé que ressèment

Defects Spotted in Ukrainian Armored Vehicles for Iraq

Baghdad experts have discovered serious defects in the armored vehicles Ukraine has manufactured for Iraq, Ukraine’s Segondya daily reported on Monday.
The defects relate to the gun control systems of 62 BTR-4E armored personnel carriers, part of a $2.4 billion contract also involving the delivery of Ukrainian-made An-32B aircraft to Iraq.
There has been no comment from the manufacturer.
Ukraine is to supply to Iraq a total of 420 armored vehicles before the end of the year.

ces véhicules BTR-4E devaient être la fierté de l'Infanterie mécanisée irakienne, mais il semble que le problème ne concerne pas les performances mécaniques de l'engun, mais plutot ses capacités de tir ; contrôle du tir et sa téléconduite.

j'espére que ce modèle d'engin sera réellement opérationnel afin que l'infanterie mécanisée irakienne soit réellement opérationnelle en attendant l'acquisition entière du lot des chars d'assaut Abrams A1 au nombre de 140.

c'est le problème, si cette défaillance était apparus lors d'engagement l'équipage ne pourrait compter que sur le blindage et les performances de l'engin mais ne pourrait pas riposter au tir ennemies.

L'Irak demande à Washington d'accélérer ses livraisons d'armes

Le Premier ministre irakien Nouri al-Maliki a appelé dimanche les Etats-Unis à accélérer leurs livraisons d'armes à Bagdad, dont les forces armées manquent cruellement de moyens pour protéger l'espace aérien et les frontières de l'Irak, six mois après le retrait américain.

Au cours d'une réunion avec le général américain James Mattis, chef du Centcom, le commandement américain pour le Moyen-Orient et l'Asie du Sud-Ouest, M. Maliki a appelé les Etats-Unis à "accélérer la fourniture d'équipement à l'armée, de telle façon que l'Irak soit en mesure de défendre sa souveraineté et son indépendance", selon un communiqué du bureau du Premier ministre.

L'Irak a acquis pour plus de 10 milliards de dollars d'armement américain. La pièce-maîtresse de cette commande, 36 avions de combat F-16, ne devraient pas être livrés avant plusieurs années.

Cette commande avait déclenché la stupeur de la région autonome du Kurdistan, en conflit avec Bagdad sur plusieurs dossiers. Au début de l'année, le dirigeant kurde Massoud Bazani disait s'opposer à la transaction tant que Nouri al-Maliki serait à la tête du gouvernement irakien, craignant que les F-16 ne soient utilisés lors d'une offensive contre la région.

Mais, dans une remarque à peine voilée à destination du Kurdistan, M. Maliki a jugé devant le haut gradé américain que "la politique d'armement (de l'Irak) se décide au niveau fédéral et en accord avec les priorités et les besoins définis par le gouvernement fédéral".

Plus généralement, dimanche, M. Maliki a assuré au général Mattis que l'Irak "n'entend pas violer la souveraineté de qui que ce soit, comme nous refusons que l'on viole ou empiète sur notre souveraineté".

Lockheed Martin Corp., Fort Worth, Texas, is being awarded a $199,303,678 firm-fixed-price, time-and-material, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide the government of Iraq with 18 F-16 C/D Block 52 multi-role fighter aircraft (12 C models and six D models); support equipment; technical orders; integrated logistics support; and contractor logistics support. This award is part of the Foreign Military Sales Program. The location of the performance is the Fort Worth, Texas. Work is to be completed by May 30, 2018. ASC/WWMK,Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8615-12-C-6012).

Iraq – FIREFINDER Radars

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2012 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress today of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Iraq for 12 FIREFINDER Radars and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of $428 million.

The Government of Iraq has requested a possible sale of 6 AN/TPQ-36(V)11 FIREFINDER Radar Systems, 6 AN/TPQ-37(V)9 FIREFINDER Radars, 3 Meteorological Measuring Sets, 86 AN/VRC-92 export variant Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems, 12 Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems, 3 Improved Position and Azimuth Determining Systems, 63 M1152A1 and 3 M1151A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, 12 M1083A1 Family of Medium Tactical Utility Vehicles, government furnished equipment, common hardware and software, communication support equipment, tools and test equipment, spare and repair parts, support equipment, publications and technical data, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor engineering, logistics, and technical support services, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $428 million.


This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country. This proposed sale directly supports the Iraq government and serves the interests of the Iraqi people and the United States.

The purchase of these target acquisition radars will enhance the Iraqi Army’s foundational defense capability.
The radars will significantly reduce the vulnerability of Iraqi forces to indirect fire attacks and provide them with the information to respond to such attacks.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The prime contractors will be Thales Raytheon Systems in Fullerton, California; Smith-Detection Technologies in Edgewood, Maryland, ITT Corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Raytheon Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and L-3 Communications in Budd Lake, New Jersey. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will require U.S. Government or contractor representatives to travel to Iraq for a period of six weeks for equipment de-processing/fielding, system checkout, new equipment training, and logistics support.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

Lockheed awarded contract to supply Iraq with 18 F-16s

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $199 million contract to build 18 Block 52 F-16C/Ds for the Iraqi air force. The order consists of 12 single-seat F-16C model jets, six F-16D model aircraft and ancillary equipment needed to support the small fleet.

Iraq is buying the jets under a foreign military sales contract.

"The LOA [letter of acceptance] for the first 18 F-16 Block 52s was signed last year with deliveries scheduled between May 2014 and January 2016," Lockheed says. "The contract award that was announced yesterday was in support of this LOA."

Lockheed says that Congress was notified earlier this year that Iraq wants to buy another batch of 18 F-16s. "The discussions between the United States and the Iraq governments regarding this program are ongoing," the company says

وزير الدفاع العراقي يبحث في موسكو شراء منظومات جوية

[align=]اعلن عضو لجنة الأمن والدفاع في مجلس النواب العراقي حكيم الزاملي يوم الخميس 2 اغسطس/آب ان وفدا عراقيا برئاسة وزير الدفاع بالوكالة سعدون الدليمي يجري حاليا مفاوضات في العاصمة الروسية موسكو للتعاقد على استيراد منظومات جوية تسهم في اعادة بناء الجيش العراقي وتقويته.

ونقلت وكالة "رويترز" عن الزاملي قوله ان وفدا برئاسة وزير الدفاع وقائد القوة الجوية يزور روسيا للتفاوض حول تجهيز الجيش العراقي بمنظومات انذار مبكر ورادارات واجهزة للدفاع المدني.

من جانبها كتبت صحيفة "شيكاغو تريبيون" في عددها الصادر الخميس ان العراق كان يملك خلال حكم الرئيس السابق صدام حسين اقوى الجيوش في المنطقة، بما فيها قوات جوية، الا ان القوة العسكرية للبلاد فقدت قدراتها بشكل ملموس بعد الغزو الامريكي عام 2003. وقالت ان "العسكريين العراقيين يؤكدون انهم بحاجة لسنوات لاستعادة كامل السيطرة على الاجواء العراقية".

Iraq takes interest in purchasing Russian air defense systems

Official mass media of Iraq reported that a delegation formed by Iraqi officials and parliamentarians departed to Moscow in order to discuss a possible acquisition of a large batch of Russian weapons, MIGnews reports.

Iraq was one of the largest buyers of Soviet and Russian weapons prior to the subversion of Saddam Hussein. American occupational administration has dismounted the country’s air defense system and facilities of the Iraqi air forces. New government of Iraq is trying to build new systems.

Iraq is interested in acquisition of aircraft movement control systems and Russian air defense systems.

One of the reasons for acquisition of air defense systems is deterioration of situation in Syria, along with frequent air intrusions by Turkey and Spain haunting the Kurdish militants.
