Eclairez-moi SVP :help: car je viens d'apprendre la future production aux EAU, en partenariat avec TAWAZUN (encore eux décidemment), des kits pour missiles
Denel Dynamics makes new moves to grow revenue
As part of its strategy to grow revenue, Denel is aiming to expand into the command and control and systems integration market, in both defence and civil security areas. It is focusing mainly on the naval integration sector.
Denel Dynamics’ air-to-surface weapons include the 130 km range, 1 200 kg Raptor, exported in fragmentation and penetrator variants, and the Al Tariq guidance/range-extension kit for Mk 80 series bombs, to be manufactured by Tawazun Dynamics (49% Denel owned) in the United Arab Emirates. The Al Tariq has a range of 120 km, extendable to 200 km, and offers programmable/crew selectable attack direction and angles (up to 90o). Both use GPS-aided inertial navigation. Al Tariq has wireless aircraft integration while Raptor has the potential to hand-off from the launch aircraft to another up to 200 km away.
Denel Dynamics’ tactical missiles include the 5 000 m range laser beam-riding Ingwe and the 10 000 m range laser-homing Mokopa. Ingwe has proved successful in combat, and is in service on the SA Army’s Ratel anti-tank vehicle and the upgraded Mi-24 attack helicopters of an export client, and has been selected by the SA and the Malaysian armies for their future infantry combat vehicles and by Eurocopter as part of a light helicopter weapons kit.
Mokopa was developed for the Rooivalk attack helicopter, and will arm several new customer Navy Super Lynx helicopters. It is modular, designed for various guidance systems and warheads, and for development as a ‘common missile’. A ‘man pack’ loiter-capable missile is in development, as are course-corrected fuzes for artillery and mortars.
Very different are the Mongoose hard-kill active protection munitions. The range includes the 300 m/sec Mongoose 3 with inertial mid-course guidance, drawing on target data transmitted from the parent vehicle by datalink. Mongoose has demonstrated the ability to deflect FSDS (fin-stabilised discarding sabot) projectiles from a tank gun.
The 15 km range Umkhonto surface-to-air missile is a vertical launch IR missile with mid-course guidance and a 23 kg warhead, in service with the South African and Finnish navies and selected by Algeria for its new frigates. Primarily an anti-aircraft/anti-missile missile-system, it also has a surface-to-surface mode. In development are an eight-round ISO pallet system for ground forces, a 30 km range radar-guided missile and a 60 km extended-range missile.
Denel Dynamics also has more than twenty years of experience in developing Unmanned Aerial Systems. Its Seeker II is in service with foreign clients in the Middle East and has been developed into the Seeker II+, which features a 5 hour on station time at 250 km from base, with automatic take-off and landing, waypoint and corridor flying, and alternative loiter patterns.
The new Seeker 400, due to fly in December this year, will offer greater endurance for up to 16 hours and an increased payload capability of up to 100 kg excluding fuel. The Seeker 400 is also designed to carry out armed reconnaissance missions and able to carry a 10 km range missile under each wing as well as a target acquisition/designation turret in the fuselage.
Much smaller is the tactical Hungwe, a catapult-launched UAV that lands on a skid system, and that offers 6-hour endurance with a 5 kg sensor payload. The entire system of two UAVs, the control station and the catapult can be transported in a typical commercial 4x4 vehicle. The Hungwe UAV first flew two months ago.
